Fishing

Fishing and a peaceful environment go hand in rod in the Trossachs Scotland. There is a range of fishing opportunities from fishing on established and well stocked lochs such as Loch Venachar and the Lake of Monteith (Scotland's only lake) through to buying a fishing permit and finding your own little piece of fishing heaven on one of the many secluded lochs and rivers throughout the Trossachs National Park.

The Forestry Commission is primarily responsible for the maintenance of the lochs and rivers in the Trossachs. Fishing permits can be bought from many local outlets suchs as shops, garages and Post Offices. However, if you prefer to hire boats and equipment your best bet is to fish on Loch Venachar or Lake of Monteith where they will include a fishing permit for your fishing adventure.

Fishing at the Lake of Menteith

Set in the Trossachs, amidst magnificent scenery where Highland meets Lowland, the 700-acre Lake of Menteith is a well regarded rainbow and brown trout fishery in The Trossachs Scotland and is reputed to be the best location for fly fishing for rainbow and brown trout in Central Scotland. The Lake of Mentieth is Scotland's only "Lake" and has the popular visitor attraction Inchmahone Priory located on one of the islands in the lake.
