The Smiddy is Stirling’s newest Farm Shop & Cafe. Our ethos of sourcing local Scottish suppliers means we know where our food comes from and how it was created; our aim is to produce a vibrant hub for people to enjoy the best and freshest local food. We want both our customers and farmers to mutually benefit from a local hub selling and using fresh food.

Keep it fresh, local, simple. These are the words we like to live by in everything we do, from creating a team of local staff to buying local produce we make sure that we keep it local. The Smiddy is a champion for the best produce Stirling has to offer, straight from the farm and on to our shelves.

A unique place to visit. Whether you are shopping for essentials and/or treats or are looking to enjoy something tasty to eat in comfortable surroundings you will not be disappointed. Our aim is to go back in time where people did their everyday shopping supporting local businesses and in return they received fresh local produce, friendly and knowledgable service and great value; for us we want to become a viable alternative to distant supermarkets.

The Smiddy Cafe, tasty food with a view. Here you can indulge in a proper bacon sarnie or a glorious hand made steak pie. As we make all our own food we are happy to discuss any allergies or dietry requests and can cater for Dairy Free, Gluten Free and Vegetarian diets. Whatever the time of day (or weather) you will love the large windows with the most amazing views in every direction. We also have outdoor seating allowing you to sit in the fresh air and enjoy those views on warmer days. We will have outdoor seating from about the end of May.

The Smiddy Shop & Deli. From Daily essentials to treats you will find all your groceries under one roof. All of our vegetables are supplied by local farms and grown to the highest of standards by suppliers we know and trust. Everything we offer is seasonal, straight from the field with lumps bumps and bits of mud. We stock meat from Old Leckie Farm, a family run business in the Gargunnock Hills, less then four miles away. We are also supplied by Knock O’Ronald in Gargunnock, Lochfield farm in Doune and West Moss-side Farm in Thornhill. Perfect Location. The Smiddy is located at the junction to Aberfoyle and is just 10 minutes from Stirling on the A873, just off the A84, close to Blair Drummond Safari Park. We have a large car park.

We wanted to offer people in the local area a better alternative to distant supermarkets. We source our produce from Scottish suppliers and local farms when we can and everything is carefully selected by our team. Have a look at what’s on offer.

Groceries

Grown to the highest standards, our vegetables are supplied by local farms and suppliers we trust. Everything we offer is seasonal, straight from the field with lumps bumps and bits of mud. From daily fresh bread, eggs, pasta and fresh milk plus lots more on our great range of quality produce.

Chilled Food

Made to our own recipe using prime cuts of Old Leckie Farm beef, our Steak Pies are Delicious! Our Smiddy Bacon is cured in-store by our head butcher, and is a proper breakfast treat. Why not try one of our Smiddy Scotch Pies, our take on the classic Scotch pie using mutton, spices and crust pastry.

Butchery

Our butchery counter is supplied by a number of local farms. Bred to the highest standards our Pork, Beef and Lamb is prepared in-store and our butcher will be happy to advise you. Our whole Free Range Chickens are supplied by Gartmorn Farm in Alloa and all of our stock is British reared. We also make our own Haggis, and dry cured bacon using traditional methods. Country living certainly has its perks and flavoursome Game is one of them. We source our game from local estates and occasionally further afield during the season. Pheasant, Vension and Rabbit are all available. Our butchers are happy to help in any way with making up orders or advising on cuts.

Deli Counter

Our deli selection changes regularly so check in-store for new arrivals. Classic selections including Sheep’s Cheeses, Blue Cheeses and Goats’ Cheeses are all available. Prosciutto, famous Italian dry-cured ham, is just so tasty it’s impossible to resist. Salad leaves grown locally and specialties from further afield with some Olives and Anchovies just to add to you anti-pasti dishes.
